Dr. Deming – The 5 Deadly Diseases 1984
Posted on
in 1984 Dr. Deming foresaw the current economic crisis and the cause. Take a look at this video and you will learn of the "5 Deadly Diseases" that are at the heart of the problem. Dr. Deming said, "A Transformation must take place in American industry or it will continue on the decline until the style of American management changes...and they don't know what to do. 98% don't know there is a problem or there is anything they can do."

@projectmgrninja Although most of the governments of Asia had seemingly sound fiscal policies, the International Monetary Fund , again bad management

@TavernacleRecords And most managers are clueless, incompetents. It’s pure Peter Drucker, arguably the US’ most accomplished business guru of the 20th century, who stated in one of his brilliant business tomes that the number 1 reason for business failure is not competition, lack of vision, or any of the other typical management excuses: it is managerial incompetence…

@odinheim It’s more true in 2011 than it was 27 years ago.

@odinheim Japan’s current financial crisis is not a management problem. The issues have more to do with their system of banking. Of course the earthquake/tsunami/Fukushima disaster have impacts that will be felt for years to come: how does something like a cataclysmic event translate to a ‘lack of management’?

@AnonymousEconomist . You are as clueless as you are stupid. “Market wisdom” is a hoax and a fraud. There is no wisdom in the market – the so called “market” is like having a bipolar head-case for a business partner. If you are an economist, you must be unemployed…

Unfortunately managers must conform to market wisdom, and market wisdom is something Deming doesn’t have. In today’s world, he couldn’t even score a Webinar.

Pure genius. I even love his mannerisms. He’s a beautiful man.

I totally agree with Dr. Deming at 14:00 when he said ” that is maybe the most underdeveloped nation ” he refers to the US , he should be alive today to testify the truth of the us economy today
December 31st, 2011 - 13:28
well
I don’t agree with Dr. Deming at 12:50 when he compares the US and the Japanese economies , today Japan is also in a deep financial crisis again lack of management

@TavernacleRecords this man should be telling to the US government what is going on , we need you so much in this crisis

@politicoochie09 Most managers look back on Deming’s wisdom as just another business fad that has come and gone like all the rest. My experience has been similar to yours during most of my career, and I seldom have had coworkers who have seen profound knowledge in action firsthand. I’ve been fortunate to have had some firsthand positive experiences. My career began with this video when it moved me to approach some local friends of Deming to see how I could get involved in the cause.

I once was blind, but now I see.

In 30 years I have worked for over a dozen bosses. NONE of them ever used the Deming method or even knew about it. And they were all horrible managers.

What a Man.

@aaronsanderson I think the real power of Deming is at The new economics where he describes the System of Profound Knowledge…………….. 14 points and the 5 deadly diseases support this System. . . . .

Why management do not listen?????????? He has said everything. . . . . .

@pramodkrish The books by Dr. Deming, Out of the Crisis and The new economics for industry, government and education are good starts. I know this is late but I want you to know that Dr. Deming not only told us what is wrong but what we may do about it.
